21-Aug-2018 : Brunei LNG Roadshow on Operations and its impacts to the Community

Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd (BLNG) organised an engagement session with its key stakeholders on the 21st August 2018 at the Multipurpose Hall of the Liang Lumut Recreation Club. The engagement sessions titled "Roadshow on Operations and its impact to the Community" was held to provide awareness and overview on Brunei LNG business and upcoming projects. Present at the event as the Guest of Honour was Yang Mulia Dato Seri Paduka Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw, Deputy Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry.

 

Also in attendance were Yang Mulia Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan, Permanent Secretary (Industry) at the Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry; Mr. Patrice Girard, Brunei LNG Managing Director; Acting Belait District Officer; Yang Mulia Redzuan bin Ahmad, Chairman of Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board; Senior Officials from Relevant Government Agencies; Village Heads of Kampong Sg Liang, Kampong Lumut I and Kampong Lumut II as well as Mukim Consultative Councils.

 

The event started with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah followed by a safety briefing. A welcoming address was also delivered by Mr. Patrice Girard, Brunei LNG Managing Director during which he shared the history of BLNG as the first and the oldest operating LNG plant in the world since 1972 and thus, the plant has contributed significantly to Brunei Darussalam's economy. He further emphasized on the importance of the engagement session with the stakeholders to inform and understand issues that concern the community as a result of BLNG business operations and future projects.

 

The welcoming address was followed by a speech by the Guest of Honour, Yang Mulia Dato Seri Paduka Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw, Deputy Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry. In his speech, the Deputy Minister gave his full support on BLNG's effort in strengthening the understanding of the public on its business operations. He further emphasized the need for industry players to apply the best practices to ensure minimal impact of business operations to the surrounding community and the environment.

 

The event was later continued with presentations by BLNG officials, discussing topics that includes BLNG business overview, Environmental Impact, Air Quality and Water Effluent, BLNG Turnaround Maintenance Activity and BLNG Safety and Security. The event was later concluded with Question and Answer session.
